Hang this retro-inspired stocking by the fireplace and old St. Nick won't be able to resist filling it with all kinds of mid-century handmade goods and atomic memorabilia.

Using a large piece of butcher paper or other paper, draw the shape of your Christmas stocking. Use this as your pattern to cut two stocking pieces (one facing left and one facing right) from the white flannel, inner fabric, and interfacing. Iron connecting to wrong side of outer fabric per manufacturer's instructions.
Use pieces of butcher paper to draw trim shapes and use them as patterns to cut out the felt trims. Cut four small diamonds from the remaining felt pieces. Pin the trim pieces to the stocking and sew them together using a sewing machine or coordinating embroidery thread.

Use the fabric pen to mark additional starburst embroidery on the stocking, and add glass seed beads to the center of the starburst patterns as they are embroidered inside the embellishments and around the diamond felt pieces.
From the inner fabric, cut a 4” x 8” rectangle. Iron in half lengthwise to create a center crease, spread it open and iron the sides lengthwise so they meet at the center crease. Fold lengthwise one more time and iron again. Sew close to the edge on both long sides, creating a folded strip.

With right sides together, sew outer fleece stocking pieces together, leaving top open. Do the same for the inside pieces, but leave a 4-inch opening along the side for turning later. (All seam allowances are ½" unless otherwise noted).

Using the scissors, cut and notch the curves of the stocking so they lie flat when turned to the right. Turn the inside of the inner liner out and press. Fold the hanger tab in half and pin it to the outside pieces of the stocking at the back seam so the raw edges line up. Insert the liner (right side out) into the outer sock (wrong side out) and pin along the top edge. Sew the socks together along the top edge.

Pull the outside of the stocking all the way through the remaining opening in the lining. Sew the opening closed with a top stitch very close to the edge of the fabric.
Tuck the liner back into the stocking making sure the curves are nice and smooth, and apply final pressure around the edges, being careful not to press on the felt pieces.
