Drugstore photo labs have come a long way. Now they can print their photos on mugs, bags and even a canvas, all in less than an hour. When you feel the sudden urge to embroider a pair of heart glasses, you can be ready.

Embroidering on canvas is easy. The material is already stretched like fabric in an embroidery hoop. The canvas is thin enough to easily prick with an embroidery needle, making sewing a breeze. Another added bonus, the pharmacies mentioned are relatively cheap.

Choose a photo that you want to embellish and print it on a canvas. It is best if the area you want to embroider is in the center of the image. You don't want to sew along the edges as there will likely be a hard frame along the edge.

Make sure the back of the canvas is removable. This part will be crucial for the embroidery. You can ask at the pharmacy or photo lab.

Draw an outline of the shape you want to embroider directly on the canvas with a pencil.

If you mess up or decide you want to embroider heart-shaped glasses instead of regular ones, simply cover the original holes with stitches.

Using an embroidery needle and floss, start outlining the pattern. The outside of the glasses is embroidered with a basic backstitch.

Continue sewing until the outline is filled. Tie-off at the back. Replace the back canvas piece if desired.
