Make a tablecloth from a canvas cloth

Introduction

Depending on what you choose to write, this project can make a wonderful housewarming, hostess, or wedding gift. It also makes a wonderful picnic blanket. Because it's made of durable canvas, you don't have to worry about spills

Step 1

Mark outside the border

Create a border around the edge of your drop cloth by placing two strips of painter's tape six inches apart.

Step 2

Select a quote

Choose a quote (or two if they are short) that you like or are creative and create your own. We used "one cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well" by Virginia Woolf, adding "so let us eat, drink and be merry" to complete the design.

Step 3

Outline the words

Use disappearing ink to outline your budget. This will ensure proper spacing and help you avoid mistakes.

Stage 4

Put ink

Trace your quote in permanent ink. Be sure to protect the surface below.

Step 5

Remove the tape

Remove the tape to reveal its pretty handwritten border.

Step 6

Ironing

Adjust your design by placing a thin towel over it and ironing on a high setting without steam.
