All you need is a quarter thickness of fabric and a terry cloth to get you going. They are a great way to display your favorite baby knits. This is a perfect sewing project for beginners, and once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to move on quickly.
Cut the fat quarter in half. You can do this in any direction, as long as you have two rectangles of fabric (enough fabric for two separate burp cloths).
Cut a piece of waffle knit or terry cloth the same dimensions as the fabric rectangle.
Place the rectangle of waffle or terry cloth on the right side along with one of the fat quarter rectangles of fabric matching all the side edges. Pin around three side edges, leaving one of the short edges open. Sew with a straight stitch.
Trim the corner edges to press gently in the next step.
Turn the burp cloth inside out, pry out the side edges with your finger, and then use an iron to press.
Turn the raw open edge inside the burp fabric and press. Pin closed and sewn to secure..
Use a decorative or zigzag stitch to embroider all four sides of the burp cloth.
Repeat with the other half of the fat quarter fabric to make more. It's super easy, and the perfect gift to make for the baby..
