Start by drawing the design on the wall, but don't sketch or apply plaster to a high-gloss finish.
Use any type of plaster, mixing just enough to work with a small area (1 to 2 square feet) at a time. The plaster dries very quickly. Mix three parts plaster to one part glue and one part water and stir until the mixture is the consistency of cake icing. Put the mixture in the cake decorating bag and add the tip. Follow the pattern by pressing the mixture directly onto the wall surface. Start with the outline and complete the design.
Allow the plaster designs to dry, then use a utility knife to carve the details as desired (Image 1). Use a base coat to prime the area. Once the paint has dried, use metallic nail polish (gold or silver works best) to add highlights (Image 2). For an aged look, add a few coats of polish over the entire surface.
