To help eliminate masks, it's best to use flat-weave rugs with nubby textures and neutral colors. You will need three of the same rug to create the top, bottom, and side panels for the cover.
Lay the pet bed on a flat, level surface, then use the tape measure to determine its length and width. Using the length and width measurements of the pet bed as a guide, mark the rug to size with a marker or chalk. Use dressmaker's scissors to cut two of the flat-weave rugs into the top and bottom panels for the slipcover.

Use dressmaker's scissors to cut the third flat woven rug into four side panels for the slipcover. Two will be cut across the length of the pet bed and two will be cut across the width of the pet bed.
Use the sewing pins to temporarily attach each of the four side panels to the top panel.
Thread the round end tapestry needle with mercerized cotton and then sew the four side panels to the top panel.

Use the sewing pins to temporarily attach each of the four side panels to the top panel. Leave one of the four panels without seams in order to insert the pet bed. Thread the round-end tapestry needle with mercerized cotton, and then sew the bottom panel to all three of the four side panels.
Remove the pins, and then turn the cover so that the inside is facing out. Then insert the pet bed into the seamless side of the cover. Once the pet bed is in the correct position, sew up the unsewn side with a round nose tapestry needle and mercerized cotton.
