The attic is a fabulous place, once isolated, offering additional spaces that we would not have imagined. However, as they have a relatively small area, it is important to exploit every nook and cranny, especially the lower parts and the sub-slopes which will be lost without optimization. Find out how to arrange these places well.
Before considering any attic conversion, it is important to first take stock of your needs in order to know the type of storage to install. Will your attic be used as a reading room, relaxation room, storage room, office or bedroom? Also identify the objects you want to store:toys, books, clothes or decorative items? After determining your needs, you can decide which storage fits them. In general, the sub-slopes are used to create cupboards that will help store boxes, documents, clothing and other archives. But you will not be able to make the necessary arrangements if the depth of the space is less than 50 cm and if the height under the beam is less than 90 cm.
Another possibility:the essential library. If you have a whole collection of valuable books that you want to show off in your home, the pedestals can be used to store them. In DIY stores, you can get your hands on boxes that just need to be assembled to create a pretty bookcase.
More of a fashion fan? In this case, your attic will be dedicated to storing your clothes. Shelves, drawers, cupboards or wardrobes... make this space a modern dressing room worthy of the most beautiful catalogues. But before, always make sure that the depth is sufficient (at least 50 cm) and the height also (more than 120 cm otherwise your jackets and other shirts will hang on the ground). Do not hesitate to exploit the gable to benefit from a high wardrobe.
If you've finally decided to create closets, here's how to do it. First take the necessary measurements in terms of depth, height and length. Place the cleats so that they are perpendicular and parallel. Attach them to the wall and the floor and then install the rails on them. You will need to make grooves on the cleats for these rails to fit. If you wish, cut plywood panels to make shelves to place inside your closet (rafters can help you). Use other panels to create the closet closure. Fix the guides and rollers on the rails then place the door. Finish the job by applying the paint and installing handles on your cabinet.
Note that DIY stores offer special kits to create sloping cupboards. Do not hesitate to use them if you do not feel like a great handyman.
On the price side, you will spend between 50 and 70 euros for sliding doors. Count about ten euros for the purchase of the rails. Finally, 15 euros will be needed for the fixing kit.
