Cut the door to size. Cut the bottom of the door to remove the metal base.
Apply tinted primer with a brush or soft nap foam roller. Let dry. Apply the base paint using the same method. Let dry.
Draw the design on the door and then use a router to cut out the design. Depending on the degree of detail, use the appropriate bit size and style to crop the design. Any wood carving tool can be used for the detailed areas. Sand the edges until smooth. Use wood glue to fill in small holes.
Paint the grooves with a stain or paint. We use a stain dyed to the green color of the wall..
For a cohesive look, we painted the same design on the wall that we painted on the window panes. This design becomes a work of art when the windows are covered.
Sliding door hardware is available in different sizes depending on the size of the wall. For installation of the rail system, follow the manufacturer's instructions. We hung ours on the ceiling line to give the illusion of more height in the room.
Attach panels to the track. Rubber or fabric protectors can be placed behind the panels to protect the wall. Install handles to easily slide doors across the track.
