Fill a shallow dish with shaving cream and smooth flat. White foam cream (not gel) works best. If you're working with very young children who still put their hands in their mouths, consider using whipped cream instead.

Add a second color and run a bamboo skewer or pointed object through the colors trailing gently through the shaving cream. Make sure there are no blank spaces, but don't mix up the colors too much either.

Place the cardstock into the shaving cream, pressing gently. Pull off the paper and scrape off the excess shaving cream with a ruler in one continuous motion to reveal the grain. Let it dry.

The fun part is putting your gorgeous new paper to use. Write letters, cut out shapes for a banner, or use the pieces in your mixed media art. Experiment using other color mediums such as thin paint, liquid watercolor, and dye.
