To make this cake you will need:chocolate cake mix, 2 cans of chocolate icing, black icing, and candy eyes.
Bake cake in two 9" cake pans as directed on package. While baking, cut 8 (eight) 10-1/2" x 1-1/4" strips of decorating paper (we used black with polka dots ) for the spider legs. Fold the strips in half. Using double-sided tape, attach the ends to the cake stand. Fold the legs toward the center of the cake stand to give them height.
Place the first cake layer on the cake stand flat side down.
Add small amounts of black icing color to icing until desired color is achieved. Spread a layer of icing on top of the first cake layer.
Place the second cake layer on top of the icing layer, flat side down.
Frost the entire cake with the dark chocolate frosting. Add candy eyes or you can use doll eyes from the craft store, just be sure to remove them before serving.
