This coastal style Christmas wreath is easy to make. Styrofoam balls are wrapped in twine and yarn and then pricked into a wreath shape. Decorative rattan balls, seashells and ornaments are thrown into the mix. After the holidays are over, remove the decorations and keep the wreath all year long.
Cut the burlap into 3-inch strips. Use the glue gun to attach one end of the burlap strip to the foam wreath, and then start wrapping the burlap completely around the wreath. Add glue at key points to make sure the burlap will stay in place.
Wrap foam balls in yarn, mixing sizes and colors. Start by hot gluing the end of the yarn to the foam ball and then wind the yarn until the entire ball is covered. Cut the thread, then glue the end of it onto the ball, tucking it under the already wrapped thread.
Design your layout; Determine where on the crown everything will adhere. Cut the skewers in half. Cut them at an angle, so there is a point at each end. Push half of the spike into the foam ball and the other half into the foam crown.
Attach the rattan balls to the wreath with the hot glue gun. Keep the ball in place until the glue is completely dry.
Use the glue gun to adhere the shells and starfish between the patio and the yarn balls.
Alternate decorations with the balls of yarn to give your wreath some holiday spirit. You will need to hot glue the decorations unless they are also made of Styrofoam. When the holidays are over, remove the embellishments and replace them with yarn or twine.
If desired, add a large hanging ornament to the center of the wreath. We also added glitter to our starfish to give our crown an extra holiday sparkle.
Decide which side is the top. Slide the ribbon under the foam balls and secure with a knot at the top of the foam crown and then a second knot higher up where it will hang.

Hang the crown. If there are spots or holes, add more balls or shells. For added sturdiness, once everything is in place, apply some hot glue to any loose spots.
