Question from a blogger:Do you need to fertilize houseplants in winter?
Indoor plants need fertilization between March and September and/or when they are in flower. This is the case with azaleas, cyclamen, poinsettia, st paulia, kalanchoe… which adorn our interiors with their pretty colors. Orchids have a specific fertilizer , everything well balanced for them. Do not forget bulbous plants in your fertilizations:narcissus, daffodil, tulip, but also amaryllis. These bulbous will take a small glass of fertilizer even after flowering, as long as the leaves are green, in order to regenerate the bulb which is their reserve organ.
Green plants the majority are of tropical or subtropical origin, and do not know any rest of vegetation. Except that with us, there is winter with its short days, and these plants feel it. Less vigor, less growth. Fertilization is unnecessary between October and February.
For cacti , the regime is stricter. Watering is completely suspended during the three winter months. This will encourage a new rise to flower in the summer.
On the other hand, all the plants in the house can suffer from a lack of hygrometry – understand air that is too dry. A spray on the foliage will do them the greatest good. However, be careful not to stain the flowers.
Advice + :never spray polish on flowering plants.
