Materials and tools:
tall white pillar candle
copy of the wedding invitation
white decorative ornaments
low temperature glue gun and glue
straight pins with white ball tops
scissors
wire cutters
cloth covered wire
3 store-bought white bows or wire-edged white ribbon to make bows
White silk rose or white silk flower ornaments.
2 tall glass taper candle holders
2 white taper candles
Steps:
- Cut out the written part of the wedding invitation into a rectangle or square, depending on the design. A copy is used instead of an original because invitations are usually printed on heavy card stock that won't easily curve around a candle.
- Place the invitation copy around the candle, leaving room at the top for the candle to burn without burning the invitation, and room at the bottom for embellishments.
- Use wire cutters to cut the straight pins to a length about 1/2" below the ball heads.
- Starting at the top left corner of the invite, place the cutout along the top edge of the paper, securing by pushing the pins through the cutout and paper every 1/2". Go all the way around the invite. to the starting point, no need to use glue - the pins will hold the paper and cutout in place.
- Hot glue a pink or white silk flower to the center of a purchased wire edging bow, or make your own bow bow. Glue the bow into the space between the invitation and the bottom edge of the candle. Low temperature glue is recommended so that it does not melt the candle. Glue additional silk flowers around the invitation, if desired.
- Tie a fabric covered wire around each of the other two bows (or make two more bows with the ribbon). Attach a tie around the tops of two tapered glass candle holders. Place a white cone on each stand. Place the pillar candle between the candles.
