These weights are great for the backyard, camping, or made in your favorite team's colors for tailgating parties.
scissors
sewing needle
hot glue gun and glue sticks
6 different styles of vintage sheets or pillowcases
1 vintage flat sheet to serve as a picnic tablecloth.
5 to 6 rolls of different ribbons or threads.
10 round stones about 2 inches in diameter
thread
10 curtain clips
Wash, dry and iron the sheets and/or pillowcases. We use old colored sheets to achieve a vintage style..
Cut the fabric into 1-inch wide strips with varying lengths from 24 to 27 inches. On at least two of the strips, trim the ends to give them a fringed look.
Lay the strips down in a star shape, right sides to the floor. Place a round stone in the middle and, from below, pick up everything and turn it over, making it look like a Halloween ghost.
Tie the rock in place with a ribbon, the ribbon should be at least 24 inches long. Then tie two more ribbons around the top with long strands.
Wrap some of the fabric around the top of the stone and glue it in place. Let some of the different fabrics show through from below.
Sew the curtain clip ring onto the fabric at the tip of the rock. Sew around at least 6-8 times and then tie a knot and secure the thread.
Put the tablecloth on the table. To continue our vintage look, we used a flat sheet of checkered patteren. Cut out the weights around the entire table at the edge of the fabric.
