Before you start painting the room, you will need the following materials:a paint tray, masking tape, a tarp, newspaper or cardboard, sandpaper, detergent, filler , an acrylic undercoat, white spirit, a roller and a brush. Once you have gathered all the necessary equipment, all you have to do is choose the paint that will dress your walls.
Before starting the work, you will need to prepare the room. Start by taking the furniture off the walls, then unhook the paintings and other decorative supports attached to the walls. Protect objects remaining in the room with a tarp. Then cover the ground with cardboard, newspaper or another tarp. Once the ground has been cleared, you will need to prepare the surface to be painted. Wash the ceiling, walls and doors, rinse and dry the surfaces. If necessary, seal the holes and cracks, using filler. Once you have carried out these operations, and that everything is dry, sand with very fine sandpaper. For better paint adhesion, or if your walls are raw or new, apply an acrylic or glycero undercoat.
Before you start painting, apply masking tape to the areas you want to protect:window surrounds, door handles, complaints, switches and outlets. Start by painting the areas where the tape was applied, using the brush. Once all the edges have been painted, you can proceed to cover the ceiling. To do this, dip your roller in the paint and wring out the excess. You will need to paint in areas of about 1/2m, alternating cross passes. The first is in the direction of the light, the second is perpendicular to the first. Once you have covered several areas, smooth them between them with a stroke of the roller, without adding paint. When it comes to painting the walls, start by pouring the product into the tray, filling it halfway. Dip the roll and spread it on the flat part of the tray, in order to extract the excess. The wall should be painted little by little, in areas of 50 cm. Without pressing too hard, roll vertically. Then horizontally, in order to erase the vertical marks. Paint in this way, until all the walls are covered. Apply a second coat, if necessary, and clean your brushes well with mineral spirits when you are finished.
