Terrazzo is a hot decoration trend. Typically used in floor or wall treatments, terrazzo also appears in accessories. Terrazzo is made from pieces of marble, quartz, granite, or glass in a matrix of concrete or epoxy resin. The chips can be any size, and the matrix and aggregate can be any color, allowing for so many design possibilities!

Supplies

  • terracotta pot
  • matte spray paint (charcoal and ivory used here)
  • Oracal 451 vinyl (various colors)

To create your low-tech terrazzo planters, you'll need Oracal 451 vinyl, which can be found at craft stores near die-cutting machine supplies. It's cheap and comes in many colors and textures. It has an adhesive backing that sticks to many surfaces. Once applied, it is mostly permanent. The only way to get it out is to use a blade to scrape it off.
