Isn't your little one ready to do tricks on Halloween night, walking long distances up and down the block? Turn a car into a wearable costume.
Cut two identical pieces of rectangular cardboard, the same length as the side of your car to the desired height.
Cut two identical pieces of rectangular cardboard, the same length as the side of your car to the desired height.
Cut a smaller piece of cardboard 8" by the width of your car. Use hot glue to connect the two larger cardboard rocket rectangles together at the back end, with the smaller rectangle in the center. Time how long this piece connected (the whole rocket back).
Cut a semicircle for the nose cone of the rocket. The outer arc of the semicircle will be the length of the measurement in the previous step.
Draw and cut out three rocket fins.
Spray paint the main part of the rocket white. Paint the fins and nose the desired color. Make sure to paint both sides of the fins. Let the pieces dry completely.
Slide the main rocket body tube onto the carriage. Use packing tape to secure the bottom sides of all four corners of your wagon.
Apply a line of hot glue around the outer edge of the back of the nose cone and slide it over the front of the rocket, curving the semicircle over the top front of the rocket. Press down firmly for a few minutes to set.
Cut a slit in the bottom of the nose cone to allow the cart handle to be easily maneuvered. Trim excess nose cone as needed.
On the back of the rocket, cut a few 7" slits in the cardboard where you want your fins to go.
Slide the flaps into the slots and hot glue them in place. Hold them down for a few minutes to allow the glue to set.
Make fuel flames for the back of your rockets by cutting strips of red tape. Glue or tape the top of the tape to the back of the rocket. The flames look really impressive when the wind blows.
And you're done. Add a few small astronauts and go.
