Instead of making salt dough decorations this year, check out this recipe for sweet-scented cinnamon decorations.
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. In a bowl, mix together 1 cup of cinnamon and 1/2 cup of applesauce. Stir well.
Stir in 1/3 cup craft glue.
Use your hands to mix the glue well, and then knead the dough into a ball.
Place the ball of dough on parchment paper and roll it out until it is about 1/2 inch thick.
Create decorations with cookie cutters and place them on a baking sheet.
Use a toothpick to poke a hole in the top of your ornament so you can hang it from a ribbon or hook when you're done.
Bake at 200 degrees for two hours..
Let them cool completely before decorating. Simply hang them with bakery twine for a rustic look.
