This classic rug took little time and money to make. A 2' x 3' rug requires 100 feet of rope, which costs about $10, plus $5 for the non-slip mat.
Unwind the rope. Cut any loose thread at the end of the rope.
Place the end of the string in the center of the non-stick mat and apply hot glue to adhere it in place. Hold it down for a minute to secure it while the glue dries. Make sure you're working on poster board or poster board because the hot glue will drip through the mat.
Roll up the string and apply hot glue under the string to hold it in place. For the first few coils, you'll need to hold the string firmly in place, squeezing it to keep it tight and tight while the glue dries. After a few turns, the string should stay in place. Continue wrapping and gluing the string until you reach the end.
Cut off any extra padding from around the corners of the rug.
Flip the rug over so the cardstock is facing up. Tear off any excess cardstock or jammed paper so the non-stick mat is mostly showing.
