Soil composed of a high proportion of fine elements , silt and clay, soggy soil which is difficult to dry, basin collecting water from runoff , soil packed … these lands are asphyxiating for soil inhabitants, insects, worms, and microorganisms, as well as for plant roots that cannot develop properly. Air!!
Soil without air is dead soil . Soil is the living cover of the earth's mineral crust.
Aeration soil is done by repeated work on the surface. Hoe, croc or "grelinette" will be used depending on the depth to be stirred. But the best way to bring air is to bring life to the ground (and vice versa). Spreading compost and mulching will provide shelter and cover for your soil-dwelling friends who will move the earth as they move. The addition of organic matter promotes biodiversity
Plants and animals need air, water and food. Kind of like the gardener.
