No May without lily of the valley. But where to put the pot offered by the loved one, once deflowered? (thrush, not the loved one…)
Lily of the valley is an undergrowth plant. It therefore prefers light shade and humus-rich soil with average humidity, especially during growth and flowering.
After flowering, lily of the valley stores in its rhizomes, as long as the leaves are green. Then it goes into dormancy , the lucky guy!
When the flower pot has done its job and you have deleted the flower stem wilted, plant the pot in soil where you have added a good amount of compost and remember to water it as long as it has green leaves. Afterforget it , but not its location, in order to avoid an unfortunate spade blow. In short, don't throw away your rooted strand, it picks up better than the Christmas trees!
If the lily of the valley in your garden has given a lot of leaves this year and few bells, change its place this fall, or fertilize your flower bed with well-matured compost.
