Spring is coming and that means that we will also start cleaning the house again. Streak-free clean windows are part of this. Unfortunately, cleaning windows is a more difficult job than expected. But don't worry, that's how you clean your windows easily and without streaks.
Good preparation is half the battle, they say. This also applies to washing windows. Before you start cleaning windows, make sure you have an empty windowsill. For example, put plants in the garden (summer) or in the bathtub. You can then give these a shower immediately (with a garden hose or shower head), so that they are dust-free when you place them back after cleaning the windows.
Slide your curtains to the side or remove them and put them in the washing machine for a while. You can remove the curtains and wash them immediately. Then these are immediately clean after washing the windows. You can slide the slats to the side and take care of them immediately. That way you will not only have clean and especially streak-free windows, but everything around your windows will be clean and refreshed.
You will need a few things to enjoy streak-free windows in the future. Not everything from the list below is necessary. That depends on how and with what you want to wash the windows yourself. There are a number of ways to wipe your windows without streaks.
The temptation is great to run outside to clean the windows on the first sunny day. Unfortunately, that is where many already go wrong. Do you want streak-free windows? Then you really have to wait for a cloudy day. Or at least go with the sun. You can really only wash your south-facing windows on a cloudy day. On the north, east or west you can choose a suitable time of day.
And then it's time to clean the windows. Before you start, it is useful to manually remove things like bird droppings or other filth. Bird droppings are best removed with a piece of newspaper that has been moistened. Put it on the bird droppings for a few minutes and you can remove it with another piece of newspaper or kitchen roll. What also helps is to rinse your windows and especially your frames with a garden hose before washing.
For streak-free windows, proceed as follows (note:there are several ways, so see what suits you best):
Whichever method you choose:always work from top to bottom or from right to left. Drying your trigger thoroughly with paper towels after each stroke also helps to prevent streaks. You can also try with a dash of rinse aid for the dishwasher, a little methylated spirits with a drop of dishwashing liquid or, for example, Dasty from the Wibra. Other people swear by using fabric softener for beautiful, streak-free windows.

When you're working on your windows, don't forget to clean your frames. For this you can simply use all-purpose cloths in combination with warm water and all-purpose cleaner. Make sure that your freshly cleaned windows do not get wet again. Then you can start from scratch.
If it really doesn't work out, you can always hire a window cleaner. Below you can see a video of a professional window cleaner with tips and tricks.
