Here I show you how to clean an electric heater.
Yes, the cold season is coming, and we're going to reconnect the radiators.
But it's out of the question to put them back into operation when they're dirty.
It's a matter of savings and safety!
By the way, have you noticed how quickly electric heaters get dirty?
Dust easily lodges in the grid...and hello bad smells!
Fortunately, a heating engineer uncle gave me his easy and natural tip for properly maintaining his electric radiators.
Here’s how to properly clean them in just a few minutes and lower your electricity bill. Watch:
Contents
- brush
- pair of gloves
- sponge
- dishwashing liquid
- hot water basin
- vacuum cleaner
- tea towel
1. Turn off the power to the heater to be on the safe side.
2 . Vacuum the radiator grilles to remove the lightest dust.
3. Pour a squirt of dishwashing liquid into the basin of hot water.
4. Put on the gloves.
5. Dip the sponge in the soapy water.
6. Scrub the radiator paying particular attention to the grilles.
7. If the grid is dimpled, use the brush to clean all the gaps.
8. Rinse with clean water.
9. Repeat the cleaning with soapy water if necessary.
10. Dry with the towel.
And There you go ! Your electric heater is now impeccable :-)
Easy, fast and efficient, right?
And all this without harmful products or bleach that pollute nature.
Guess the best? It is that this method of cleaning requires no effort.
Vacuuming allows you to remove the lightest dust, it greatly facilitates the work.
For greasy and blacker dust, washing-up liquid works.
It degreases dirty and yellowed grills in the blink of an eye.
Dishwashing liquid also cleans blackened grids.
Dust is not healthy.
So the first good reason to remove dust from radiators is a simple question of hygiene.
And a healthy atmosphere, it reduces allergy problems , asthma and the proliferation of dust mites.
But let's be honest... what we care about is the savings !
The dust that accumulates on the grilles prevents the proper circulation of hot air.
As a result, you heat up more, you spend more...but you don't necessarily feel hotter.
- Before any action on an electric heater, remember to turn off the power to avoid electrocuting yourself.
- Vacuum the grids regularly your radiators to remove dust. Ideally every time you vacuum the house. Otherwise a feather duster will do.
- If the radiator grilles have darkened , you can whiten them with toothpaste. Unscrew the grates if possible. Put toothpaste on an old toothbrush and scrub both sides of the grill. Rinse, dry and screw the grid back on. It regains its whiteness immediately.
- Avoid abrasive products (and abrasive sponges) so as not to scratch the paint on the radiator.
