Since then, several readers have asked us how to make dishwasher tablets.
I am happy to announce that I have finally found an easy way to make your own organic dishwasher tablets. And it actually works!
Believe me I tested methods that weren't terrible...
But these homemade tablets are not only effective, they also smell great!
I'll show you how to make your own dishwasher detergent.
Here's what you'll need to get between 16 and 20 dishwasher tablets:
- 60 g of soda crystals
- 60 g baking soda
- 60 g of citric acid
- 60g coarse sea salt
- 15 drops of lavender essential oil
- 15 drops of lemon essential oil
- a little water
- An ice cube tray
1. Mix all the ingredients together with a whisk, except the water.
Note: stir well making sure the essential oils are well mixed with the dry ingredients.
2. Slowly and gradually add the water to the container. Start with about a teaspoon of water, then mix well and check the consistency.
3. Keep adding water until you can form a "snowball".
Warning: Do not add too much water otherwise your tablets will not dry well.
4. Once your mixture is the right consistency, fill the ice cube tray.
5. Tamp well to make sure there are no air pockets.
6. Let them dry for 12 to 24 hours.
7. Once dry, you can gently flip your ice cube tray and your pellets will fall out on their own like ice cubes.
And There you go ! You made your own dishwasher tablets :-)
Now you know how to make dishwasher tablets! Easy, right?
And no need for Thermomix! It's more economical that way.
