Here is my recipe for homemade dishwasher tablets.
But not just any ! An effective recipe without citric acid.
Personally, the dishes have always been a chore for me... so my best friend is called:dishwasher.
But when you look at the composition of the leavening tablets that you put in, there is enough to make you smile!
Chemicals, allergens, sulfates, phosphates and so on.
Yuck! And that washes the dishes I eat out of? No thanks!
Fortunately, you can avoid these products by making your own dishwasher tablets easily in 2 min.
Here is my natural, effective and ultimately much cheaper recipe . Watch:
- 225 g of soda crystals
- 3 tablespoons of salt
- 45 drops of lemon essential oil
- 125ml of water
- ice cube mold
- glass bowl
- stainless steel spoon
- glass jar
Preparation: 2 min - Makes 16 tablets
1. Put all the dry ingredients in the bowl.
2. Stir well with the spoon to mix everything.
3. Pour the water slowly, stirring to obtain a homogeneous paste.
4. Divide the batter into the compartments of the ice cube mold and pack well.
5. Allow to air dry for 48 hours.
6. Once dry, unmold and store the pellets in a glass jar.
And There you go ! Your homemade DIY dishwasher tablets are already ready :-)
Easy, fast and efficient, right?
Now just place a tablet in the machine compartment and start the washing cycle as normal.
Don't forget to put 100 ml white vinegar instead of the rinsing liquid.
Some prefer to place the white vinegar in a bowl on the top rack of the dishwasher.
White vinegar is essential because not only does it prevent small residues from clinging to the glasses, but it also makes them shine.
With this recipe, no white streaks like with some commercial tablets such as Sun or Finish.
Are these tablets compatible with septic tanks? Yes, absolutely! You can use them without fear of damaging your pit.
- Store the pellets in an airtight jar away from light.
- You can add an extra spoon of salt in the bottom of the machine before washing. This makes the rinsing process easier, especially if your water is hard.
- If your dishes are not spotless, you can add 1 teaspoon of citric acid to the washing powder compartment. On the other hand, I advise against putting it directly in the recipe, because it reacts with the water and it makes the recipe more difficult.
- If you don't have lemon essential oil, add orange or grapefruit.
- Choose your mold carefully so that the shelves have the right size to fit into the compartment. It's a silly little trick, but it will save you precious time.
