Whether it's your son's skateboard or your childhood skateboard, don't don't throw it in the trash. Skateboards can be recycled and become very original and aesthetic shelves.
Former bad skater, I recently found how to recycle my old boards to make shelves . And I must admit that my walls make much better use of it than I do. How I did it, in a few steps , I will explain to you in the following.
- 1 or more skateboards out of use.
- 2 metal brackets by skate.
- A dozen screws :longer for walls and other less long so as not to pierce your skateboards.
- Ankles.
- 1 drill/driver.
- 1 hair dryer.
1. If my skates are complete, I uncouple the wooden deck from the trucks (metal parts where the wheels are attached) using a Phillips screwdriver and a pipe wrench.
2. After removing the screws, I remove the grip (sticky layer on top of the skateboard) using a hair dryer and a piece of plastic. All I have left at the end is the wooden tray.
3. I move on to the decoration :painting, collage, many things are possible . As far as I am concerned, I first roughly sanded the boards to lighten them.
Then with vinyl glue, I covered the top with a patchwork of newspaper.
4. Next comes the fixing stage remains to drill holes in the walls at the right spacing using the brackets; fix the brackets to the walls then the square plank. For more details on how to wall mount and choose your hardware, go here.
This is how to recycle the good old skateboards, children can easily participate in this activity. An opinion ? If you yourself have tried or know other ideas to recycle a skateboard, tell me in a comment.
