No one likes doing laundry.
But is that a reason to keep washing your clothes with detergents full of chemicals?
Not to mention dyes and other irritating products!
I do not believe ! You know me, I prefer homemade :-)
Fortunately, there is an easy and effective recipe to stop spending a fortune on industrial detergent!
This homemade laundry powder recipe has loads of benefits.
It is less expensive, without toxic products and it washes as well, or even better, than commercial powder detergents!

I don't want to get into a debate about the potential dangers of commercial washing powders.
I'll let you do your research on the Internet to form your own opinion.
So, without further ado, here is the homemade laundry recipe WITHOUT chemicals.
You'll see, you too will love it as much as my husband and I!
And I'm sure that, like us, you'll never buy a store-bought laundry detergent again! Watch:
- 1/2 mustard glass of baking soda
- 1/2 mustard glass of citric acid
- 1 mustard glass of soda crystals
- 1/4 mustard glass of coarse sea salt
- 1 bar of Castile soap
For castile soap, the most reputable brand is Dr. Bronner's Castile soap. I love the lavender one, but there are other scents or even unscented.
Note: other recipes call for the use of glycerine soap. Having tried these 2 types of soaps, I can tell you that Dr. Bronner's is much more effective in removing grease stains !
1. Finely grate your Castile soap bar.
To save time, I use one of the tools of my food processor:the disc for grating . If you don't have a food processor, you have to do it the old fashioned way with a good old grater. Just take care to grate finely the soap.
2. Pour the grated soap into a large mixing bowl.
3. Add all the other ingredients and mix well.
4. If your mixture starts to form lumps, use a pastry blender to crush them.
5. To properly store your washing powder, pour it into an airtight container, such as a glass jar.
For a 4-5 kg machine: use 1 tablespoon of washing powder per machine.
For a 6-7 kg machine (or particularly dirty laundry): use 2 tablespoons of washing powder per machine.
Ideally, also add a desiccant, such as silica gel sachets, to absorb moisture and prevent your powder from clumping.
There you go, now you know how to do your own laundry in powder and WITHOUT chemicals :-)
Not that complicated to make, is it? Plus, it's cheaper than buying it at the supermarket, especially if you're doing a lot of laundry for the whole family.
This homemade detergent works as well as commercial detergents, even better ! In fact, my husband and I are convinced that this recipe is MORE EFFECTIVE than conventional detergents.
As with conventional detergents, this homemade detergent cleans and removes stains from clothes without worry. But in addition, after several washes, the whites are even whiter and the colors more vivid!
Before, our clothes lost their shine over time, but now our clothes are impeccably clean and brilliant colors , with a fresh and clean smell .
Believe me, with all the laundry I do every week, I quickly see the difference when my family's clothes are cleaner than usual!
