These topiaries do well in a humid environment like a bathroom or over a kitchen sink. To care for them, just spray them with water when they start to look dry.
Protect your work area by unfolding a roll of kraft paper on a flat, level surface. In order for the moss to adhere properly to the foam spheres, you will need to cover their surfaces with spray adhesive. For the best coverage, hold the can about eight inches from the surface of the sphere while pressing down on the nozzle.
Turn each section of moss upside down and then lightly coat it with spray adhesive. Cover the entire surface of each sphere with moss. Slightly overlap the pieces, covering the sphere in sections.
In order for the moss spheres to hang, you will need to create a hollow channel in the center of the foam through which the sisal rope is threaded. The best way to do this is with a wooden dowel. Place the pin at the top of the sphere, then add pressure until it bottoms out.
Once the pin is through the bottom of the sphere, check its surface to make sure there is no loose foam.
Each sphere will be hung with sisal rope. For random grouping, cut the sisal rope into different lengths with a knife or scissors. It is best to keep the difference in heights less than 10 inches to ensure a balanced look once all the spheres are hung.
To thread the string through the center channel, tape the end of the string to the peg. This will allow the rope to slide through the channel easily, without fraying. Guide the peg and string through the channel until about four inches of string is through the bottom.
With the string threaded through the sphere, knot the bottom. Once all the spheres are knotted, attach the eye hooks to nearby ceilings or beams, then thread the untied end of each string through the eye hooks.
