The key to creating a well-balanced group of tabletop topiaries is to ensure a proper mix of heights. Odd number groupings work best with proper spacing (three and five are the most common numbers), and are best arranged with a mix of tall, medium and short sized candlesticks. When choosing floral foam spheres, use a combination of diameters that vary slightly in size. TIP:A great dial size combination that works well is 4", 6" and 8".
To create cohesion between the palettes and the chandeliers, update the chandeliers with spray paint. Choose a color found in the popsicle wrappers. In a well-ventilated area, spray paint the chandeliers, moving back and forth approximately 8" from the surface in controlled, even streams.
Exact color matching creates a strong graphic impact, while the combination of different hues within the same color family adds visual depth.
To ensure that each floral foam sphere is covered with an even mix of colored wrappers, sort the colors into individual groups.
While random placement is key to creating a well-balanced palette topiary, it's best not to have two of the same colors placed directly against each other. Start with a color pack made up of all the featured colors located in the center of the sphere. This grouping will work like the color layer template, helping to prevent two colors from laying directly against each other.
Working from the initial color pack outward, complete the insertion of all palettes into the floral foam spheres, ensuring proper color matching. Once it's completely covered with popsicles, place the sphere on top of the candlestick.
