Whether it's occasional or frequent, I believe that an office corner is simply useful, even necessary in the house. Here are some tips for setting up this must-have space.
When I run out of ideas, I often take advantage of the tips and tricks on this home blog. Some of his articles have been very useful to me in the layout of my office area. Indeed, as I also work a lot from home, the existence of such a space was really essential to me. It is a quiet area where I like to find myself in peace. Nothing like isolating me from the annoying hubbub of the house, especially when the children are playing indoors.
Hence the obligation to choose its location astutely. The ideal would be to allocate an entire room to this use. However, this is not always possible, especially when there is a lack of space, as in my case for example. But already, the bedroom was automatically eliminated, because for me this place is the lair of rest and relaxation. No question of working there.
At first, I then thought of the entrance. Unfortunately, insofar as it is a place of passage and circulation, I risk being frequently disturbed. What's more, the place is a bit dark and gloomy to work in, even if the light was redone, it wouldn't have been terrible. I was then offered the living room. The nerve center par excellence of the house, this room is particularly noisy and lively. This is why I invested the underside of the stairs. In addition, by selecting well and intelligently arranging the furniture, I miraculously gained extra centimeters. I installed wall shelves, from a well-known brand, to store my books.
To distinguish the space, but especially with a view to making it more modern and user-friendly, I started by repainting the section of the wall that would accommodate the office area. So I opted for light green. Neutral tones would promote concentration. In addition, by favoring this color, I also increased the brightness of the area. However, good lighting was also necessary. Otherwise, it is impossible to read and write to it. The purchase of a wall lamp and two swivel desk lamps was a must.
For lamps, I recommend swivel models for optimized use of their light. Otherwise, in terms of storage system, I invested in filing cabinets. You have to file your paperwork properly. Red for invoices, or blue for tax returns and so on. Otherwise, in addition to the new shelves on the walls, I also acquired a column storage unit with drawers. The purchase of open lockers was not a luxury, but to my great regret there was no longer enough space.
Regarding the furniture, I mainly bet on practicality and functionality. And as I had always dreamed of an architect's office, it was now or never to have one at home. I do not regret the purchase of this piece of furniture at all. Finally, even if the design of modern style chairs is more and more attractive, I mainly bet on the comfort and ergonomics of a good old wheeled chair with armrests.
