For many years, studies conducted by behaviorists tended towards the same results:a sober environment was necessary for the concentration and therefore the productivity of the employees.
A study published September 1 in the journal Journal of Experimental Psychology challenges this assertion. Thanks to two control groups, the researchers – from Anglo-Saxon universities – determined that subjects working in an environment without green plants were 15% less productive than the others.
Employees who worked in an office with green plants also noted that they considered their quality of life to be better. Alex Haslam, co-author of UQ’s School of Psychology explained:“Employees were more satisfied in their workplace and reported increased concentration levels and better air quality in an office with plants. Landscaping an office makes the workplace more enjoyable, comfortable and fruitful. It seems that this is partly due to the fact that an office with plants sends a message to employees:that their employer cares about them and their well-being. »
