All smiles on the creator of the streetwear label Off-White, the American Virgil Abloh, who was appointed artistic director of men's collections at Louis Vuitton in March 2018. The visionary, also known for his great friendship with rapper Kanye West, continues its success story with an astonishing and promising collaboration with the Swedish giant Ikea. The collection of furniture and decorative objects called "MARKERAD", which should be accessible to all budgets, is gradually being revealed and it is one creation in particular that has caught the attention of the Net. Highlighted during the Democratic Design Days, the annual conference organized by Ikea to present its latest innovations, the object is none other than a carpet which represents... a giant receipt, as it is printed in the famous blue and yellow shops!
Ultimate realism:said mat contains various information such as the extension number of the employee in charge of the cash register, the date and time of the purchase, the total to be paid and even the amount of change to be returned ( in this case €401 out of €1,000 paid in cash). Henrik Most, creative manager at Ikea, expressed his admiration for the designer, an architect by training:“Virgil has a fantastic ability to work with basic materials and create new things ". It is the least we can say ! We still hope that the big decorative ticket will not be sold at the price it displays, i.e. 599 €… It would start to make the rug expensive! The collection signed Virgil Abloh should contain other surprising creations – such as glass cabinets and giant triangular doormats – and should hit stores in 2019. It promises!
