Make (or pimp) your TV furniture yourself with concrete ciré? It's just possible! Nathalie and Erwin preceded you and we can publish a nice article about it. We like to do that because as you know I love lifestyle and interior. And also not averse to a little work. In fact, not so long ago I treated my windowsills with concrete ciré and I am very happy with that. It is also so cool to see the metamorphosis that you can achieve with this product.

First of all I would like to inform you that Erwin has pimped an existing TV furniture with the concrete ciré. But you can also choose to make your own TV cabinet, where you ultimately use concrete ciré to give it a more industrial look. In any case, the TV cabinet by Nathalie and Erwin has had a complete makeover and can now be called an industrial TV cabinet. Do not you think?
If you want to know exactly how you can work with beton ciré, you can read it in my blog about the window sills. I started it blank myself, with the idea that the windowsills needed to be replaced after all. Erwin - very clever - followed a free course in the application of concrete ciré beforehand.
After a long search for another industrial TV furniture, it was clear. In terms of size, the old TV furniture fit well, only the look and feel no longer matched the current interior. Too different from, for example, the robust wooden coffee table and not sturdy enough. Beton ciré TV furniture Nathalie had seen before and that matches. Only these other cool TV furniture might fit in the living room in terms of taste, but the prices were not bad either. Since Nathalie and Erwin like to work with the interior themselves, the choice was not difficult. Get started yourself!
Erwin roughly applied the ready-made concrete ciré, which they had prepared in the right colour, with a trowel and angle trowel. You need these materials to make tight corners. No fuss, no hassle, no perfectionism, just daring. Let this dry, after which you sand it smooth. Her mother was shocked by the result, not knowing that they were only halfway through 😉 .
After this it is the turn of the second layer and that requires a little more perfection. The second layer should be applied thinly, after which you make tight corners with the angle trowel. With a so-called scraping technique you make a nice 'drawing' in the concrete ciré, which creates the well-known color differences. Any less beautiful spots can be touched up with a brush. As a finishing touch, you apply a kind of epoxy layer, which acts as a protection. If you don't use this, you run the risk that your self-refurbished TV furniture will no longer look nice in no time. So do.
After the concrete ciré has been installed on the TV cabinet, the doors no longer fit in the sideboard. These must be shortened with the saw. To match the doors to the table, the doors are sanded smooth. It is important that you sand in one direction, with the grain. And then suddenly the actual color appears, which turns out to match very well. Nice is not it!
