Now that we have started our renovation again, my head does not stand still and the PC overheats due to all the searches I do. Looking for cool ideas for furnishing our house, of course. The finishing of the walls, the doors I want, the floor and so on. So I ran into wooden wall finish. A super nice way to get a warm look and very well suited to an industrial look, but also to a rural interior.
You have different types of wood finishing of walls. From beautiful old wood that you apply to your wall to modern slats that you can use to make a wooden wall finish. I think they both have something. For example, when I was looking for a nice sliding door, I came across wooden walls at Barnwoodweb.nl made of very cool old wood of up to 100 years old that comes from barns. By using this wood against your wall you not only get a very nice look, you can also tell a very nice story. That's always nice of course.
How different is the atmosphere of this wooden wall, for example, than a painted finish, especially if you opt for standard white. The combination with the beautiful light furniture makes the above wall finish a real picture, I think. This atmosphere is rurally modern, but if you have dark furniture yourself, or if you have a lot of steel in your house, you will immediately get a completely different atmosphere in your home with such a wooden finish. A more industrial look. Both beautiful and natural, so you immediately get that home feeling.
You can choose to cover a complete wall with wood, but you can also just do a small part of the wall. For example, I'm thinking about doing something with wood behind our piano. But sitting next to the fireplace is also great. For us, we first finish the renovation. First plaster and paint the ceilings and walls and only then do we decide on a possible wooden wall finish. There is still too much to do to get a good overview. And since I find so much beautiful, it is a matter of making choices later. Unfortunately, haha.
As you can see above, the type of wooden wall finish also determines the atmosphere you create. The dark wood on the left gives a more classic look than the beach look on the right.
Tip:do you find a real wooden wall difficult? Then check for photo wallpaper options. You will of course miss the advantages of the wooden wall finish and the real look, but it can be a nice alternative.

The only drawback I can think of is that a wooden wall finish may not clean very easily. Certainly not if you place the wood horizontally. A bit like the wooden blinds that also come back in our house. With vertical wall finishing, dust will have less chance to remain on ridges. You may also have to take a good look at whether the wooden wall will match the floor you have.
