Photo hexagons as wall decoration; i love it!

They are not of today or yesterday; hexagons with a photo, sayings and other images have been seen as wall decorations in the interior for some time and we are also tackling! By the way, I thought they were beautiful from the start, so it's not that I had to get used to them, but I didn't immediately have a good place in my head for it. Certainly not because we are still renovating. But Luc's room is 'ready' and that gave me an idea!

Photo hexagons as wall decoration in cool adolescent room

I completely painted Luc's room a few months ago and that was badly needed. After a good year in our new house sleeping in a bedroom with brown scraps against the ceiling, I was completely done with it. He doesn't, by the way, because he doesn't seem to care much. Or rather, he didn't seem to care much. He is in fact more enthusiastic than I expected about everything in his bedroom, including this hexagons wall decoration.

For example, he slowly goes from an old-fashioned bedroom to a cool adolescent room that radiates a little more cosiness. Now it would only be nice if he also keeps it a bit cozy.

Wall-decoration in Luc's bedroom; hexagons!

I chose to focus the photo hexagons only on Luc himself and on our animals. There is no other member of the family in it. Because of course it is absolutely not cool to have pictures of the rest of the family in your adolescent room 😉 . So I alternated the hexagons; photos of Luc, some sayings and a few nice pictures that I found on Modulari's website to put in between. Because there is so much choice! That is why it is also important to ensure that it does not become a hodgepodge, balance is important to make it a beautiful whole. I would like to give you some tips below.

Tips to alternate photo hexagons and keep balance

Tip 1:Determine a color-palette

First of all, it is important to determine for yourself which colors you want to appear in your wall decoration. I have chosen the colors black-white-beige-blue-green. Seemed to fit nicely with his black furniture and wooden wall decoration. But of course you can compose your own color palette in this to match the interior of the room where you want to hang the photo hexagons. It is also useful that you can search in the existing images within your color palette.

Tip 2:Determine the shape and size

Determine in advance how you want to place the hexagons on the wall and how many hexagons you think you will need for your wall decoration. This way you can choose the right shape if you want to shape the hexagons with photos and spells.

Tip 3:Check the photos you want to use by their color

I had almost all of Luc's photo hexagons made in black and white to ensure a certain balance in the hexagon wall decoration. If I had had all his photos printed in color, I would have had a very colorful wall decoration. Could also be beautiful, but not really our choice. By keeping many of his photos in black and white, I was able to achieve exactly the colors we thought fit with some other hexagons.

Tip 4:View the end-result in advance

When putting together the wall decoration, it was very nice to be able to see the result in advance. When uploading your photo, the end result is immediately shown. Switching photos is also a piece of cake. It works very well because you can immediately see what your hexagon wall decoration will look like and you can also see whether the colors really match each other. Especially if you have a somewhat larger wall decoration made, this is very nice, otherwise you will lose it quite quickly or that it all still fits well together.

Start-together-when-you-hang-the-hexagons

Luc has quite a few hexagon photos in his room (20 pieces) and when I read the instructions I panicked a bit. It is clear how it should be done, but you are short of hands if you want to do it right. I thought. Frank and I start together. With the supplied template it is very clear how to situate the hexagons and how you will eventually get the photos pasted on the wall. The first is just a matter of measuring out (we hung it level with some painter's tape) and after that it gets easier.

You start measuring. Then you start on the first hexagon photo. You can stick the adhesive strips for the wall exactly in the template. Since the wall of Luc's room is not smooth, we really have to press the strips between the bumps of the wall. That works fine and they are now super sturdy.

When the strips hang, stick the thick magnets against the strips and then the thinner magnet comes on top of that, which also comes against the hexagon. The moment you place the hexagons photo in place, you remove the paper from the last strip so that it will stick. Now you can press the hexagon on it and it will stick.

Note: Use the spacers both times when measuring with the template and when sticking the hexagon. This way you can be sure that everything fits exactly!

However, after pasting the magnets on the wall and on the hexagon, you have to put the last one on the floor for another fifteen minutes before you let it sit permanently against the wall. That means you can't continue with the rest. At least, that didn't seem useful to us with measuring. I wanted to measure the next pass when the top one in line was against the wall.

So we always measured a few hexagons, left them for fifteen minutes and then hung them up to be able to continue with the next row. If you're as impatient as I am, it takes some getting used to 😉 .

Place hexagon wall decoration alone

I ended up doing most of it on my own. As I had done it a few times with Frank, I became so adept at it that I could do it alone. With an adhesive strip in my mouth I measured with the template where the hexagon photo should be with the spacers. This way I could immediately stick the first adhesive strip that I had in my hand and then remove the second from my mouth. Tip of flip .

Anyway, I'm super happy with the end result and luckily so is Luc!
