For most people, a garden is synonymous with summer. But why should you only enjoy your beautiful garden for one season? Enjoy the garden all year round with a garden room, even when it rains or the temperature leaves much to be desired.
A garden room is, as it were, an extension of your house, not to be confused with a conservatory. A conservatory is in fact nothing more than a roof, while a garden room is closed all around. Garden rooms are made with a lot of glass in combination with wood or plastic for optimal enjoyment. The glass ensures that you are protected against all weather influences and at the same time benefit from natural light.
If you have a small house, but a spacious garden, an extra room in the form of a garden room can offer a solution. Suppose you are fond of painting, then you can turn the garden room into a real studio. The incidence of light is perfect, the tranquility ideal and with every season you have plenty of inspiration. An acquaintance of ours has done this and even uses the garden room as a (limited) exhibition space. Of course you can also turn it into another hobby room.
Or you are a freelancer like me. Of course it is useful to have an office indoors, but a space in the garden offers so many more possibilities. While you're at it, surround yourself with plants and flowers and enjoy every season of the year in your garden. You can also receive customers all year round in this extra space.
The extra space is also perfectly suited to receive guests. Instead of sitting within your own four walls with limited light, just move the next party to the garden. The space is closed on all sides, so you don't have to worry that your party will fall into the water due to rain or strong wind. If the weather is nice, the doors to the garden will open and your guests can enjoy themselves both inside and outside.
Of course, you don't necessarily have to use the garden room as a hobby room or office. It is also the perfect place to store your garden supplies and to let your plants overwinter. Plants in pots that do not survive the cold, but need light to get through the winter, can be placed in the garden room.
You won't really need your garden set, the barbecue and garden tools in the cold months of the year, so you can tidy them up perfectly in the garden room. If you do want to enjoy your garden in the winter, then your garden set will certainly look good there.
Plenty of options to use the garden room. A lot of glass not only provides a lot of light in the garden room, but also heats it. The glass protects against wind, rain and snow at the same time, keeping you dry and warm no matter the time of year. Ideal, therefore, to be able to enjoy the garden all year round and to consciously follow all changes in the garden.
And if the garden is not so beautiful, you can still brighten it up with garden wall decoration.
I have had a garden for a large part of my life. From a large farm garden to a modest city garden. For me it is important to be able to enjoy a piece of nature all year round. My children don't know any better than that they have lived in a house with a garden.
We are currently in a rental house with a huge garden. Because this is only temporary, it is of little use to invest in a garden room. Still, I hope to have a house with a large garden and a garden room one day. I would furnish the garden room with nice teak furniture, a cozy sitting area with sofa and lots of plants.
To fully enjoy it, I would have heating installed and reserve a corner for a small pond. Since I love plants and animals, I would reserve a piece of wall inside the garden room for an aviary with grass and cockatiels. Ideal for enjoying the garden all year round.
Do you have a garden room and what do you use it for? Let me know.
