Instead, put things away in a mess, ventilate the rooms well.
And finally, light a scented candle (about 15 minutes before the guests arrive).

Your guests will never know you tossed all the messy items in a basket minutes before they rang the doorbell.
- Tidy up messy items in the hallway, living room, kitchen and bathroom and bang the pillows to make them fluffy again (10 min).
- Wipe down countertops, sinks and washbasins in the kitchen and bathroom. Put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher (10 min).
