Use your cardboard coffee sleeve as a template. Most coffee mugs are a standard size. Trace the cardboard onto a piece of felt and cut it out. Do the same with an old flannel shirt.

Using paint and a stencil creates a decorative embellishment, such as a leaf, on the felt. Remember that stenciling is a dry brush technique. Let it dry and then cut it.

Using a blanket stitch to embroider the two pieces together. On the felt side of the sleeve, attach the hair elastic with embroidery floss. On the flannel side, attach a small button with the floss. By using elastic, the sleeve will be more adjustable.
