How to Make a Forest Inspired Headboard for a Girl's Bedroom

Introduction

For this project, an old thrift store headboard was painted white. Then we collected fallen birch branches and also painted them white. The branches were attached to the headboard and filled with pretty birds and ribbons.

Step 1

Prepare the header for painting

Sand and paint the headboard and its white frame. Apply two coats if necessary.

Step 2

Extend the design and paint the branches

Arrange branches on the headboard until you have the proper layout and size, then trim and cut branches where needed. Paint the branches white. Apply two coats on all sides. When the branches are dry, cover them with a sticky spray and sprinkle them with glitter.

Step 3

Attach branches to header

Put the branches on the headboard and fix them with the metal straps; use a smaller strap if branches are thin. Screw the metal straps down. Add additional straps if branches are unstable.

Stage 4

Add the birds and decorate.

Snap the headboard into place, then decorate with decorations like birds and ribbons.
