Question from a blogger:I transplanted in my greenhouse in arches 10m X 7 m on holes of 40 X40 CM of ripe homemade compost 2 plants of grafted melons cyrano F1.
They have grown well and are fragrant. The problem is that they are not sweet and bland.
When I bought these plants I pointed out that I had in place at the other end of the greenhouse (10 m) a cucumber plant. The seller told me that it was not a problem.
The lack of flavor of a fruit (melon) comes either from the variety or from the way the culture is conducted. Too much water or an excess of nitrogen can affect the taste and preservation of the fruit.
A melon needs a little water and lots of sun ! And picking at the right time. Too early, it's hard and tasteless. Too late, it looks like squash…
I confirm that the presence of cucumber does not affect the flavor melon.
