I already knew that girls often have a pronounced taste early on. But that they also have such a good pronounced taste, that is not always the case. However, this is the case with the Soederhuijsen family at home. Adolescent daughter Quinty Soederhuijsen has been closely involved in furnishing her room and this girl has done well. The result is obvious; this is done with taste! And that's convenient, because I've been told that she really wants to be an interior architect. As far as I'm concerned, she's well on her way.

I wrote a blog not long ago about decorating my son's adolescent room. Now he is a bit older than Quinty, but he has not interfered with anything. In fact, he doesn't care at all. And I think that's quite a difference between boys and girls. Girls are just way earlier outspoken in their taste. Not only in terms of clothing, but also in terms of furnishing style. So is Quinty and I think it's great that I can share her bedroom with you.
Quinty has opted for a light, fresh base for her bedroom. Before this she had wallpaper on a wall, but with these calm walls you have many options in terms of design. So a good choice. The two skylights provide plenty of incoming daylight, which makes the space seem even more spacious. It is of course important that you can darken the windows properly. With these roof windows, beautiful blinds are not an option, but there is still plenty of choice in different types of beautiful window decoration. Think, for example, of roller blinds, pleated curtains and duettes.
I have to be honest though…. Quinty has a bedroom that many girls will envy. Not only in terms of design, but also in terms of space. I haven't shown the photos to my girl yet, but I think she wants to expand her own room immediately 😉 . If you have the space, you can also work with beautiful accessories that come into their own in a large space. Such as the cool Egg chair from Xenos. A nice sheepskin in it and chill out! Bizarrely beautiful and wonderful for decorating a girl's adolescent room, but it will undoubtedly not fit in every room.
Whether you opt for ready-made cabinets or custom-made furniture, when you walk around IKEA you will find plenty. For example, behind the Egg chair of the Xenos is an IKEA pax cabinet that was custom-made by Grandpa, and the desk and bed also come from this giant store. We also have the drawer unit at home, so I recognized it immediately 😉 . An ideal way to make your own desk for not too much money.
Accessories can do a lot, of course we know that. Accessories also play a major role in Quinty's adolescent room, while there aren't even many. But that is not necessary. 'Less is more' is what they say for a reason and that is completely true here. The lamp garland comes from the Hema and the macramé hangers for the plants can be found at the Xenos. The ladder you see above takes you to a loft where there is still a nice chill bank. What more could a girl want in her teenage room?! Oh yes… not to forget some greenery, and Quinty has taken care of that in her bedroom too.
