As soon as it's time to bring in the Christmas tree, we start to itch. For me mainly because of two factors:Christmas gifts and Christmas dinners. But with my hubby, things are very different. He also has enough on his mind these days. He not only has to provide the Christmas lighting indoors and outdoors, but also build an entire city from scratch. Building a Christmas village, so he can completely immerse himself in it.
Recognizable? Or do you just love everything that has to do with those cute cuddly Christmas villages? Then you will find great inspiration here to build that Christmas village just a little differently!

The Christmas season itself, with all that busyness and obligations, can sometimes cause some Christmas stress. Perhaps that's why the run-up to those days is my favorite time during the Christmas season. Watching Christmas movies together in our ugly Christmas sweaters, that's the most wonderful time of the year for me.
Hubby can really enjoy it too… But only when he has installed his entire Christmas village again. And building his Christmas village seems to be taking longer every year… Could he have scored yet another expansion?
You don't build all Christmas villages in the same way, of course, but it is useful if you at least have this at home for the decoration of the different variants:
There is one important rule for most Christmas village builders:the bigger the better. My own husband thinks the same way. And just walk into any garden center during this period. No wonder you want to build a gigantic Christmas village (read:Christmas town) yourself. Plenty of inspiration (and potential purchases)! Yet bigger is not always better, as we women know all too well 😉 ...
Build your Christmas village in a different way! Or, perhaps even more fun:build one yourself. Below you will find inspiration for building a Christmas village, but slightly different.
You don't have to buy a whole city to build an atmospheric Christmas village. One house, some dolls and a little greenery for decoration; That can also make a nice Christmas picture! Take a look at the example above. Simple yet very cosy. And the build-up is done in no time, so there's more time left for those Christmas movies!
Putting everything under a bell jar is also useful if you have cats in the house, for example!
Also very nice:a Christmas village that is incorporated in your Christmas tree. It seems to be a kind of trend among the Christmas village builders, because you see them more and more often. Want to make your own Christmas tree village? Then we have a separate inspiration blog for that!
In general, Christmas villages have one thing in common:they radiate little peace. Do you really like Christmas villages, but are they a bit too busy for you? Then you can also build a Christmas village that radiates tranquility. Take a look at the example above. Doesn't that make you completely zen?
The above ideas are already great fun to implement… But perhaps the best thing to do is build a Christmas village from scratch. Extra fun if you have a few enthusiastic kids at home to assist you.
Bring out the Lego, because the above example will make your hands itch, right? If you have a good stock of Lego at home, you can easily build a Christmas village yourself.
Let's face it, isn't that a lot more fun than buying a ready-made Christmas village?

Not the most original idea, but it certainly remains fun:make houses from cardboard and build your own Christmas village. Put some lights in it, and the result is very cute!
In Scandinavia it is a real tradition, and they have taken a good look at that. It is super fun and cozy to make your own gingerbread house. And what do several houses together form? Indeed:a village!
You start by making the base. Once the dough is baked, you can start to assemble the house. And then the real fun begins:the decorating! Make it as colorful as you want. And don't worry:if you don't put the gingerbread houses too close to the stove, you can keep them for a very long time. Unless it is eaten (nibble nibble) of course…

You can also brighten up your Advent calendar by building a Christmas village on it. Add some LED lighting and you can turn it into a cheerful whole.
Use that LED lighting in the form of wires, you can easily 'get rid of it'.
We also found this beautiful way of building a Christmas village on Pinterest. Just sawing out some old planks. Fix it up and put some greenery in between and you have a beautiful Christmas village. Of course, such an LED wire also works very well in between!
This little Christmas village is super cute. So you see… you don't need much space at all to bring some Christmas atmosphere into your home. You can go a long way with a fishbowl. You can choose the round variant or a square variant, both equally nice. And what those LED wires can all not be used for!
