Decorating a girls bedroom; we start (again) again

We had just about finished Lotte's room last year, put in a new cupboard, made a desk ourselves and, last but not least, placed a large dormer window… we moved. So we can start all over again decorating a girls bedroom. Of course we already have some furnishing, but the bedroom itself can be taken care of.

Decorating a new bedroom in a girly look

At the moment the ceiling of Lotte's room consists of dark scraps. The whole top floor, by the way. That must be white. I think 😉 , this looks so dark. The laminate that is there is in principle still completely fine, so I would like to leave that.

When I shared the blog about our girl's teenage room in the old house, your reactions were divided. Everyone was enthusiastic about the interior, yes, but I also got some comments about the fact that Lotte's bed was on the floor. I have to admit:I never worried about this myself before, but now -after having slept on the floor with our mattress for two years - it is time for a bed again. For us, and for her.

To get her girl's bedroom in order, we still need a bed when furnishing it and she would like a kind of 'make-up table'. Oh, and a nightstand. I get it all, so we did another round of the internet.

Not a girl's bedroom in pink, but still girly

Which duvet will be placed on the bed is still Lotte's least concern… The styling, that's what it's all about! And the real girlishness is slowly disappearing. Pink no longer needs her. Although I have seen a very cool pink chair for the dressing table, in the velvet trend. Furthermore, Lotte prefers bolder colors when decorating her girl's bedroom. Black, white, and white wood, I understand that will be the basis of her. And she found a bed with that 😉 . She also wants a lot of photos in her room, so we have made a start with that too.

Tough bed for girls bedroom

When looking for a bed, we had a lot of websites before Mrs. made her choice. And this Misterbed bed has become her favourite, a bed with an LED strip. Haha, I still like that one myself! The bed is also available without an LED strip, but I think it was mainly this strip that made my daughter fall for this bed and accompanying bedside table.

We have ordered the double version to furnish this girls bedroom. This way we can continue to use her mattress, because she really likes it. In addition, none of our children want to go back to the size of a single mattress. Spoiled!

Wallpaper or just paint the walls

I would really enjoy working with wallpaper. For example on the wall behind the bed. But Lotte doesn't want to hear about it, she prefers that the walls are simply painted white.

Despite the fact that I like a lot of light in the house, I just think it's just a bit more fun to vary a bit. So maybe I can still convince them to paint a wall with concrete paint, for example. Or that wallpaper? What do you think?

A dressing table completes the decoration of the girls bedroom

In her old bedroom I had made a shelf where she kept her things, but that didn't really give enough space. That is why we went looking for a nice dressing table. Browsing around online at Ikea has led to the desired result, we have found a dressing table that you can hang instead of one that stands on legs. Saves vacuuming again!
