Today I will change your life. Finally, at least that of your gas cooker!
Gas stove grates clog up very quickly.
When you cook, there is always oil and grease that sticks to the grates.
Every time you cook, these spots are heated. As a result, it becomes impossible to clean without scrubbing for hours.
So what to do? The trick is to use ammonia to clean the grates effortlessly. Watch:
1. Pour about 50 ml of ammonia into a large freezer bag.
2. Put part of the grid in the freezer bag.
3. Close the freezer bag.
4. Place the bag outside on a baking sheet or in the sink. It avoids worries, if the bag has a leak.
5. Leave on overnight.
The ammonia vapors will take care of dissolving the grease and oil stuck to the grid.
6. The next day, put on heavy-duty plastic gloves. Turn your head to avoid vapors or put on a mask then open the bag and take out the grid.
7. Wipe the grate with a sponge to remove all grime.
There you go, your grill is now like new without rubbing :-)
If your gas stove grate is too big to fit in a freezer bag, use a large garbage bag instead.
If the grid of your gas stove is very clogged, it may be necessary to repeat the operation twice.
It is best to place the freezer bag in the garage or in the garden so that the vapors do not bother anyone in the house.
For this trick, don't forget to wear heavy-duty plastic gloves, as ammonia is irritating.
In any case, use very little ammonia in the bag. Because the more you put in, the less it will work! No need for ammonia to cover the grid.
Why ? Because it is the ammonia vapors that will clean the grid of your gas stove and not the ammonia itself. If you use too much ammonia, it won't work.
The grid simply needs to be enclosed with the ammonia fumes.
Warning: handle ammonia with care and do not mix it with anything. You risk creating toxic fumes.
If you don't have ammonia, you can find some at DIY stores or here, and for large freezer bags, you can find some here.
