"A miracle happened:now I like cleaning !" It's the little comment I read and that made me decide to buy it MY steam cleaner. To save water, he is a champion. And products of all kinds have left my cupboards.
The latest revolution in my life as a housewife under 50 was the microfiber square. Today, it's the steam cleaner that delights the former cleaning lady that I am!
I dreamed about it for 5 years! That is to say if I am reasonable. I always take the time to be sure I need it before making a purchase.
And he is indeed my Prince Charming, my DIY Porsche, my magic wand to do everything without worrying. Don't ask me, I don't lend it to anyone! I use it almost every day.
But why did I need a steam cleaner?
I'm allergic to a lot of products , and I searched for alternatives for a long time. Admittedly, it is an electrical device and more, but at least it uses only water and so little. The one I chose is very small, very light... and all yellow. Normal, it's a Kärcher (Amazon link), a quality brand that knows about high pressure.
Excited like a chip, the very day of its reception, I made fart the watts:1500 in total. It takes what it takes to raise the water temperature to 120°. Powerful enough to sanitize and degrease at phenomenal speed.
Time to vacuum the floors, in 8 min it's ready .
So, I did the ultimate test for you, that very first time I had the craft in hand. I mopped my floors as before. They looked clean. Then I passed the steam cleaner. Not only did he find dirt, but the floor was shinier, and dry in 5 min instead of 60.
Exit the bucket, the mop and the products!
Frankly, you wouldn't mind cleaning 60 m2 with 1 liter of water ? Just plug it into an extension cord and you'll do a whole floor in one go. And no more risk of spilling the bucket of water, or that we redo traces on the wet ground.
But this love doesn't just "wash the floor". Its tiny round brush handles tile joints admirably well. . I wanted to cry when I saw what it looked like on my kitchen floor. Usually, it takes me 2 days with vinegar and a toothbrush. There, it took me 1 hour, drying included. I'm ready to do it again next month and not in... 2 years!
At the moment, I'm repainting the walls at my house with acrylic. Do you think I bother putting tarps on the tiles? I give it a little steam, again with the small round brush, and presto, not a single spray of paint .
It does everything from floor to ceiling, and even:cutting boards, baskets, wicker baskets, car rims and carpeting, rugs, windows, etc... Provided you have small spare round brushes and allocate one to the kitchen, the other to the floors, etc... It will only be enough to wipe the dirt sometimes, and to put the cloth in the washing machine.
It is sold with a sponge cloth for each of the 2 flat brushes. I've made others with old recycled towels (the brand's wipe refills are very expensive).
And what I prefer is to perfume with essential oil:1 to 5 drops on the wipe, no more, when cleaning the floors. Especially not in the water tank. And I can change perfume as I see fit.
Tell me in the comments if it puts pressure on you to clean up in full steam!
The first year of use, my steam cleaner is amortized. As it is currently at 96 € at Amazon (I even saw it at 129 € at Bricorama!) that makes 8 € per month. That's more than what we spend to clean everything from floor to ceiling, including the car.
So, from the following year, I consider the saving of at least €90 per year . Even with regard to electricity consumption, water savings for rinsing will make up the balance.
