Trouble keeping a roaring fire going all night?

The trick is to put the logs on a bed of embers and cover them with ashes. Watch:
1. Before going to bed, make sure you have a good bed of red embers.
2. Put four logs of dense wood (eg oak) in the fireplace.
3. Using the pliers, put them against each other so that they are tight.
4. Wait until the logs have started to burn.
5. Use the shovel to cover the logs with ashes to prevent the wood from burning too quickly.
There you go, thanks to this grandmother's trick, your fire lasts all night long :-)

- For this trick to work, the temperature of the fire must remain above 250°C. And for that, you have to maintain your fire well by gradually reloading it with dry wood. This allows you to have beautiful embers.
- When feeding the fireplace or the stove with logs, be sure to choose them evenly, of about the same size.
- Then you have to put them tight against each other. The goal is for it to make a homogeneous block.
- Cover them with ashes by plugging the holes between the logs.
- To make it easier to collect the ashes, it is best to put some aside in the morning when you empty the hearth.
