There's always a piece of lettuce and dirt getting stuck in it!
Not only does it create mould, but it also puts water all over the inside of the fridge...
But also outside if nothing is done to fix it.
Fortunately, the repairman Darty explained to me how to unclog and clean the drain hole from the refrigerator.
With this easy tutorial, it's super simple. Watch:
1. Unplug your device.
2. Remove the shelf at the level of the hole as well as the vegetable drawer.
3. Use a sponge to wipe up the water that stagnates under the vegetable drawer and in the gutter.
4. Take a Q-Tip.
5. Soak it in white vinegar.
6. First pass it over the contours of the hole.
7. Then insert it into the hole deeply and move back and forth.
9. Pour a little hot water in it to remove the dirt.
10. Replace the shelf, the vegetable drawer and plug the fridge back in.
There you go, you have unblocked the drain hole in the fridge easily :-)
Fast, convenient and efficient, right?
It is a very simple hand to take. Just think about it!
Now the water drains normally.
No more flooding under the vegetable drawer and mold!
And did you notice? It also eliminates bad smells.
To unclog the fridge drain, it is best to use a special tool called Sparegetti.
You can find some here and it also works for the freezer.
But as we have just seen, if you don't have one you can use a simple cotton swab.
And it also works with a plastic straw, a small bottle brush, a flexible steel wire or a self-locking tie.
The best thing is to avoid blocking this famous hole .
Just don't put food at the very bottom of the fridge.
For example, salads, carrots or any other vegetable should not touch the back wall of the refrigerator.
This way, dirt and plants do not end up in the hole.
This is also why some shelves have a small edge.
This avoids the temptation to push the food all the way to the bottom!
White vinegar cleans and disinfects the edges of the hole.
It also eliminates traces of mold that have developed.
The flexible stem allows you to dislodge stuck dirt. It serves as an unblocker.
And poured water helps flush them away.
This hole provides access to the drain pan above the refrigerator compressor.
It is therefore important that it is well uncorked.
Otherwise the water accumulates and ends up dripping on the kitchen floor.
Attention, do not use bleach!
