A seagrass rug is great for decoration... and completely natural.
But not always easy to maintain.
Here I give you my tips for cleaning them deeply naturally.
And for that, no need for complicated chemical products to find in stores.
It was my grandmother who told me her method for keeping a rush rug in top condition and removing stains.
The technique is to use a little white vinegar and baking soda . Watch:
Contents
- white vinegar
- baking soda
- vacuum cleaner
- sponge and soft brush
- bowl
1. Tap the carpet with your feet so that all the dirt comes out.
2. Vacuum to remove accumulated dust.
3. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in the bowl.
4. Dip the sponge in it and pass it over the carpet to moisten it.
Note :it catches dust and restores shine to the fibers of the rush.
5. Brush it to remove impurities and stains.
6. Air dry the rug.
And There you go ! Your rush rug is now immaculate :-)
Easy, fast and efficient, right?
It takes almost no effort.
Especially if you regularly maintain it this way.
This cleaning tip works for rugs, rush carpets, but also jute rugs.
You can also use a steam cleaner to naturally disinfect this kind of fiber.
It is important not to let dust become embedded in such material.
That's why you need to vacuum and brush the carpet regularly...at least once a week.
Vinegar water has three virtues:it disinfects, deodorizes and makes the fibers of the reed shine.
And knowing that they tend to tarnish over time, I recommend cleaning them like this at least twice a month.
Have you noticed that rush tends to mold easily.
Why do mold stains appear?
Because it is very porous and absorbs water...but it does not dry quickly.
Besides, I advise you not to put this type of material in a bathroom.
If it gets moldy, don't let the fungus take hold.
Prepare a solution of white vinegar and water (50/50) and add 4 drops of tea tree essential oil.
Rub the carpet with a brush soaked in this mixture and dry in the sun or with a hair dryer.
This trick works on most stains.
Including cat pee, dog urine or poo, vomit, rust, tea or coffee.
As we have seen, this type of material quickly absorbs moisture.
It is therefore super important to dry your carpet properly.
Otherwise it may mold or rot due to water.
Put it out in the open, if possible in the sun to dry it out.
If the weather is bad, use a hair dryer to dehumidify it.
