In a house, we very often forget to clean the baseboards!
Probably because it's super tedious and time-consuming...
As a result, they take dust and dirt for ages...
Well today I show you how to easily and quickly clean dirty baseboards.
With this trick, dirty skirting boards become and stay clean for a long time without getting tired.
It was even my friends who pointed out to me that they were spot on!
All you need as a product is white vinegar and washing up liquid. Watch:
- a few drops of washing-up liquid
- 250 ml of white vinegar
- 2 liters of lukewarm water
- vacuum cleaner with brush
- microfiber cloths
- Cotton Swabs
- bucket
- towel or yoga mat
1. Vacuum all the dust on your baseboards with the vacuum cleaner brush.
2. Mix the dishwashing liquid with the white vinegar and lukewarm water in the bucket.
3. Dip a clean microfiber cloth into the bucket and wring it out well. It shouldn't be dripping, just damp.
4. Place the yoga mat or towel on the floor to rest your knees on so you don't hurt.
5. Wipe the baseboards with your dampened microfiber cloth.
6. Change the cleaning water when it starts to look cloudy and black.
7. Clean hard-to-reach corners and edges with a Cotton Swab soaked in the mixture.
8. Leave the baseboards to air dry for 10 minutes with all the windows wide open.
There you go, the baseboards of your whole house are now all clean :-)
Easy, fast and efficient, right?
No more dust and dirt spoils the view of your beautiful white skirting boards.
And of course, this method works on all materials:wood, tiles, aluminum...
- If it's been a while since you've washed your baseboards, allow at least 2 hours for this cleaning.
- Ask a friend to help you move the furniture from the walls to clean all the baseboards behind the furniture.
- Be careful not to put too much water on your cloth otherwise it will not be as effective and may even damage your floors because of the water.
- When vacuuming, be careful not to touch the white baseboards with the plastic of the brush. Otherwise you risk making black marks on it.
Once you've taken the time to deep clean your baseboards, you need to keep them nice and clean!
How often should baseboards be cleaned?
I advise you to have a shot on it once or twice a month.
And for that, here are 2 simple methods without bending down:
- With the vacuum cleaner brush:
Using a brush vacuum cleaner is an easy way to clean baseboards.
The advantage of this method is that you don't even have to bend down to clean.
- With a microfiber mop:
Take a broom with a microfiber pad like this one and run it over the baseboards.
Thanks to this broom, you will be able to clean your baseboards very easily without bending down.
