Jeans are often the central piece of any wardrobe.
The timeless piece that can be worn with everything.
Extending the life of your favorite jeans is essential and also has a positive impact on the environment.
Because if a country like ours extended the life of half of its clothes, we would save 8% carbon, 10% water and 4% waste.
So, to keep your favorite jeans as long as possible, here are 7 tips you should know . Watch:

One wash per month is enough. The trick is to untie your jeans as soon as possible to keep the frequency of washing to a minimum. When we come back from a hard day's work, we mechanically throw all our clothes in the washing machine, whether they need to be washed or not. However, too frequent washing damages the jeans and shortens its lifespan. If your jeans smell bad, remember to hang them outside in the open air for a day so that they regain all their freshness.
And with a minimum spin. Choose a cold wash, delicate program with little detergent. And always prefer a minimum spin.
Also hang the buttons. This avoids white streaks and the fiber is preserved from drum wear. Perfect for increasing its lifespan.
Do it from the first wash. During the 1st wash, put 2 tablespoons of salt in the machine to fix the blue color permanently.
Another tip:Always wash new jeans first with other dark-coloured clothes.
This is a fatal error! Keep bleach and hydrogen peroxide away from your jeans.
This may discolor it and damage the fibers.
To rinse and soften the fabric, add 250ml of white vinegar to the rinse water.
It does not damage the colors and it softens the jeans.
Hang it by the legs. Do not use a dryer, but a simple drying rack placed in the shade to prolong its life and the colors.
Over time, tumble drying can damage lycra fibers.
And it's lycra that gives stretch jeans all their elasticity. If you're in a hurry, towel dry it.
If your jeans are a little stiff, put them in the dryer for a few minutes at the lowest temperature.
This softens the fibers and the jeans are easier to put on.
Obviously these tips work with all brands of jeans for men and women:Levis, Lee, APC, etc.
Be aware that the manufacture of jeans is very polluting and requires a lot of natural resources.
If you are looking for an eco-friendly brand of jeans, I recommend Nudie Jeans, which is 100% organic.
When washing dark jeans, use a detergent designed for dark clothes, such as Mir Black Revive.
Other detergents contain chemicals called optical brighteners. They make whites whiter and make other colors fade.
Did you buy coated jeans? It's very trendy.
On the other hand, it is delicate to clean...
We recommend washing them by hand in cold water, without aggressive detergents.
Prefer soapy water with a little Marseille soap.
Then dry the jeans flat.
All this allows it to keep an impeccable appearance and extend the life of the coating.
If you have jeans decorated with beads, sequins or studs, do not machine wash.
Why ? Because all the decorations are in danger of being removed...
Prefer hand washing to clean it without damaging it.
This avoids peeling off and losing the small decorations.
If the colors start to fade, don't worry.
Breathe new life into your jeans with a special washing machine dye.
This dye can be used to restore the original color to the jeans.
Or you can use it to dye light jeans in a darker color.
I recommend this dye which has given good results on my jeans.
Do you have old jeans that are starting to tear or fray?
If your favorite jeans are here, all may not be lost.
You can still save a few months by extending its lifespan.
How? 'Or' What ? Use a pair of scissors to make a few more well-placed tears.
You can also fray the edges by loosening the fibers with tweezers.
Grunge look guaranteed!
